Equitable Distribution CLE
Course Description: During this CLE, we will be reviewing House Bill No. 521, an act relating to the equitable distribution of marital assets and liabilities and amendments to s. 61.075, F.S. as enacted by the State of Florida legislature that took effect July 1, 2024. The course will give a brief overview of what is assets are comprised of the marital estate subject to distribution and the importance of identifying, classifying, and valuating marital assets and liabilities. The course will highlight the recent changes and amendments to s. 61.075, including, but not limited to the burden for awarding partial distribution of assets pending a dissolution action; what assets and liabilities are classified as marital vs. non-marital, marital presumptions, valuating a spouse’s marital interest in a closely held business, et al.; interspousal gifts, Court findings, and the impact of distribution on other aspects of a dissolution action.
